Q. Good Day, 40 Clip! We appreciate your time spent speaking with us. The first question we have for you is, what qualities do you think characterize you as a great musician?
A. If I were to name one quality of mine that makes me a great musician, it would be inventiveness. The music in this class is currently deteriorating since the same sound is being produced and dragged out repeatedly, tiring people's hearing. I have the ability to write songs that can be categorized under any genre, with the exception of country because I'm not a big fan. I appreciate that music has an impact on the world and that this has a positive impact on my creativity. I write and play the flute, some piano, some guitar, which helps me think about the sound I want to achieve and the current elements I want to add.
Q. What was your first project or song?
A. In high school, I wrote my first song. I penned some poem to a beat similar to Sheck Wes' to accompany my brother's invitation to the show. I was anxious when I entered the booth since the music, they wanted me to perform initially was melodic in nature. I had to vocal a little on it, and the first time you hear yourself it hits differently. We ultimately decided to scrap it. then proceeded to the Sheck Wes rhythm. Even though my verse is the first, I went second. However, it took me about five or six tries when I went again.
Q. Who are the people who support you the most?
A. My biggest supporter, I'd say, is me. Support me if you want but understand that I am my harshest critic. When it comes to art, I believe that artists create works in an effort to either imitate what they believe will elicit reactions or to simply express their own. No one is a harsher critic of my work than myself, even if I care what people think of the art. In the end, you can't please everyone. Because when I create my art, I don't consider whether it will be popular or who will like it; instead, I consider what I'm feeling and what I want to create today.
