Get To Know WokstarOTR and His Path to the Studio in Interview

Q. Good day, icanthearyou! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a musician?

A. At age 7, I first began to compose music. After that, things became more serious when my late cousin (R.I.P) @flakko2x began recording with me; truly, he is the reason I started making music. May he rest in peace. I was originally spotted by Chicago engineer @mvjorsup at a talent show, and in early 2017, he invited me to the studio to record my debut track. I began purchasing my own equipment after that. I began using FL Studios to mix my own songs after learning how to utilize them. I worked more diligently as I improved, alternating between different styles to show off my versatility and taking inspiration from my everyday life.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. Some of my biggest influences are Chief Keef, Drake, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne, Their unwavering dedication to their work motivates me to strive to outperform them. Although they are still in the game, the new age is about to emerge. The majority of artists in my city follow a similar path, but I'm attempting to go in a different one.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. Getting my song aired on two of the top Chicago radio stations for the first time in 2019 was a career high point for me musically because it proved to me that if I persevere, I can achieve my goals. To leave my hometown, one must overcome several obstacles.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. I envision myself accomplishing everything in five years, but with love and while keeping my faith in God at the forefront. Because we shall achieve our deepest dreams through him. Also, a couple Grammys would be wonderful. Because there aren't many rappers who are also models and because I enjoy both areas of the arts, I'm attempting to bridge the gap between the music and fashion worlds more internally.

Q. What Is One Piece of Advice You Have for Your Followers and Fans?

A. Choose a hobby you enjoy, then dive right in. Many troublesome people will try to stand in your way, but it should serve as more fuel for you to maintain your composure and design the life you want.
