Q. Good day, JSosa! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a producer?
A. Ever since I was five years old, my passion for music has been ingrained within me. During my upbringing, I found myself playing the drums in various churches I used to attend, and during my time in middle school, I was part of the school band. However, it wasn't until I completed my education and made the decision to step away from basketball that I finally acquired a laptop and crafted my very first beat. Initially, it presented a bit of a challenge, but with the passage of time and the aid of several online tutorial videos, I have managed to improve my sound creation abilities and provide a superior production value for my audience.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. When it comes to influencers, I could sit here and list numerous names, but if I had to choose my top three, I would definitely mention Jace (iayze), Chief Keef, and Lil Uzi Vert. While my taste in music is quite diverse, these three artists stand out as the ones I listen to the most. For me, music isn't solely about the lyrics; sometimes, I'm drawn to a song simply because of its beat or the catchy adlibs. The rappers I mentioned hold the top spots because of the immense creativity they bring to the recording booth and the infectious energy they convey in their music. Moreover, as individuals, both the producers and artists who have influenced me are admirable human beings, and the values they uphold align closely with the principles I take pride in as well.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. As for my greatest career highlight, I would say that at this moment, it's simply graduating from high school and having the opportunity to continue pursuing my dream. Not everyone realizes the value of each day they are given, but I consider it a blessing just to be able to wake up and have another chance to work towards my goals, knowing that others may not have that privilege. Some of the people I know never had the chance to complete their education, and there are others who never had the opportunity to move forward in life. So, being able to walk across that stage and transition into the next phase of my life is something I am truly grateful for.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In five years, I envision myself being in a position where I can fully immerse myself in my craft. My aspiration is to have my own dedicated workspace, where I can freely create for as long as I want. Alternatively, I would be content with securing a spot in a professional studio that aligns with my style and preferences. Regardless, my goal remains the same: to make a significant impact in the music industry, whether it's in the mainstream or underground scene, regardless of genre. I have been diligently working towards my dreams since the day I graduated, and I firmly believe that everything I desire will come to fruition in due time, guided by a higher power's plan. In five years, I envision the industry recognizing my name, as I secure numerous high-profile placements. Networking is crucial in this industry, and I am committed to expanding my connections exponentially within the next five years. I am always eager to collaborate with other artists, as you never know what opportunities or new perspectives they may bring and the doors they could open for me.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. A message I would like to share with my fans and supporters is to never give up on their dreams. It's easy to get caught up in what others think or say about the choices we make in life. However, if you have a passion or a dream to become someone or achieve something, go for it and don't let anyone discourage you. Remember, it's your life, and we only have one, so use it wisely and make the most out of it. Furthermore, never be afraid to embrace who you truly are just because you think others might not accept you. You don't have to conform or pretend to be someone else to please others. It's perfectly okay to be yourself. If the people around you don't appreciate or support your authentic self, then it's important to distance yourself and seek out those who do. Surround yourself with individuals who share similar goals and aspirations, or who genuinely have plans to make something meaningful out of their lives. While it's fun to have a good time and goof off initially, there comes a time when it's crucial to buckle down and focus on your ambitions.
