Q. Good day, 40 Clips! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making beats?
A. A friend of mine taught me how to make beats during college. While I created my first beat in high school, my true passion for beat-making developed later on.
Q. Who are your musical influences for production and why?
A. My musical influences include Metro Boomin, No ID, and Kanye West. Metro Boomin pioneered new sounds for my generation, influencing my drum patterns. No ID’s old school melodic boom bap sound inspires me to explore melodic sounds. Kanye West’s impact is seen in slower tempo beats, allowing a distinctive boom-bap cadence. “And I say Kanye because of paths, samples, and ambition. I could really say a lot of reasons why we are similar, but I’ll save it for another time. For now, I’d say the direct influence is skillset and artistic mindset.”
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. Honestly, I haven’t reached it yet. My ambitions extend beyond just music, so for now, I’m savoring the journey.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. I don’t want to reveal too much, but let’s just say everything must change, and we hope it’s for the better.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. Life is a balance. Always remember, even the longest nights are followed by dawn.
