Interview With Lil Roe: Using Music to Make a Difference

Q. Good day, Lil Roe
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. Coming from a musical family, it was almost inevitable. My father had his own label and rapped, while my mother sang. Even my older cousins were into rap. So, you could say I was born into it.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My parents and cousins are my primary influences. They’re the reason I’m an artist today. My older siblings actually taught me how to make music; they used to write my lyrics until I was about 12. Then, suddenly, it clicked for me. Apart from my family, Michael Jackson had a profound impact on me. His singing and performances made me feel every message he conveyed.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. Waking up one day to find that my track “Resonate” had reached 10k plays was an ecstatic moment for me. I didn’t see it coming, and it felt amazing.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. Honestly, I have no specific plan. I believe in adapting to life rather than planning it out. I’ll definitely be further along and reaching higher heights than I am now, but life has its own twists and turns.

Q. What is one message you have for your fans and supporters?

A. First and foremost, thank you for being a part of this journey. Without all of you, my work would be meaningless. I’m immensely grateful it isn’t. Remember, everything I’ve achieved, you can achieve too, and even more. But nothing comes without hard work. It’s taken me years to gain even this little bit of recognition. Stay humble, and never forget those who support you. Life can be tough, but we can find balance. Every day is an opportunity to progress, so why not seize it?
