Q. Good day, Young J! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?
A. I began making music at the age of 16. It all started when I saw my cousins making music, and I became intrigued. I wanted to understand how it all worked, so one day, I decided to hang out with them and see it for myself. I remember they asked me to freestyle, and although I was nervous, I gave it a try. It felt like I had created a hit song, but in reality, I was just expressing my emotions over a beat. That’s when I realized I had talent. Now, at 19, I’m committed to pursuing music for life.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. My musical influences span from Juice WRLD, Mike Sher, NBA YoungBoy, to J. Cole, among many others. I draw inspiration from diverse styles to connect with a wide audience, aiming to create songs that resonate with everyone. Music has been my teacher, shaping my outlook on life and instilling gratitude.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. In my career, I’d say the standout moment is my track “Drive Me Crazy,” despite having less than 1k views. Every like and listener matters to me. I’m deeply committed to my craft, believing that my music deserves global recognition.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In 5 years, I envision myself actively aiding those who are most in need, having experienced firsthand the feeling of loneliness and hurt. I aim to use my music as a catalyst for change, touching people’s hearts and reminding them they’re never alone.
Q. What is one message you have for your fans and supporters?
A. To my fans and supporters, I’m curious: What’s your favorite style of my music, and how has it impacted you? Additionally, I’m open to suggestions on what styles I should explore more often. Your feedback means the world to me.
