Interview With wockydeuce: From Sound System Enthusiast to Hip-Hop Performer and Mentor

Q. Good day, wockydeuce! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. Music was always something I gravitated towards, even though I wasn’t sure in what capacity at first. Initially, I wanted to be a DJ. I remember being fascinated by the setups in music stores when my dad needed sound systems. Then, I started recording myself and my cousin goofing around on beats from Adult Swim, posting it on Facebook. Later on, I discovered DJ Hero and started messing around with Audacity. Since then, I’ve been hooked on recording.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My cousins and uncle have definitely influenced me musically, but in terms of celebrities, 50 Cent stands out. His music felt raw and authentic, unlike anything else I was hearing at the time. I wanted to emulate him – from his music to his business ventures. When I saw “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”, I thought he was the greatest alive. He was living the dream with G-Unit, and I wanted in on that lifestyle.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. Performing at S.O.B.’s for Snot with my crew 0500GCSY has been the highlight of my career thus far.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. see myself mentoring the youth, investing heavily in stocks, and deeply entrenched in the music scene.

Q. What is one message you have for your fans and supporters?

A. I appreciate all of you. Stay true to yourselves, because the fake will always be exposed. Keep hustling, stay focused, and remember, dreams do come true, but not without hard work and sacrifice.
