Q. Good day, Roetarantino! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a musician?
A. I got into making music when I was young because my dad was a DJ. He put me on stage at 12 to battle rap, and I stole the show. That experience made me fall in love with music, a passion I still have today.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. My love for music has been influenced by many artists. Some of my biggest influences are DJ Screw and the whole S.U.C., ESG, Slim Thug, UGK, Chamillionaire, and Paul Wall—H-town legends who paved the way for Southern music culture. 8Ball & MJG, Three 6 Mafia, E-40, Boosie BadAzz, 2 Chainz, and Kevin Gates are just a few others who have inspired me. I connect with rappers because, growing up, you couldn’t just rap—you had to have real talent. All of these artists have raw talent and unique styles that make them instantly recognizable. Everyone wanted to be a baller with braids or a southside fade, riding a S.L.A.B. with big rims and candy paint. That’s a South thing that started in Screwston, Houston, H-town, Texas.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. One of my biggest highlights so far has been performing at a country club for an upscale crowd who actually knew the words to my songs. That’s rare for most rap artists.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In five years, I see myself as a success story, giving back to my community and helping those less fortunate.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. My message to my fans and supporters is to read more, learn the business, and never give up on your dreams. There’s no expiration date on your success.
