A Interview with Qui The Last Word: The Rising Star Disrupting the Music Industry

Q. Good day,
Qui The Last Word! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. My family is full of entertainers. My pops and my uncles had a group out of Astoria, Queens. My mother and my aunts had a singing group. My aunt Robin (Robin S.) is a world-renowned artist with a song called “Show Me Love” that’s still getting plays today. So it’s in my blood. One day, my father gave me a book and said, “Write these song words down.” And that’s that.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My family first because I saw them do it before I even saw or heard it on TV or radio. Then it’s LL Cool J because he’s from Queens and is the real GOAT. Nas, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Biggie, Fabolous, Naughty by Nature—the list goes on.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. I got a lot of wins, I can’t name the biggest one, but I did a lot and received love from people in the game like Sheek from The LOX, Capone from Capone-N-Nore, and others. I have reached the point where it’s not just one thing—it would be a highlight reel if anything.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. Rich and retired with a bigger family and a lovely home, lol, but probably still working and helping push the culture forward.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. Never quit. Be yourself. This is a business, so make moves with a business mind, not just an artist’s.
