An Interview With NoHeartZae: Reflecting on His Rise in the Music Industry

Q. Good day,
NoHeartZae! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. I’ve always loved music—it was something I couldn’t go without for most of my life. I used to try and make beats and songs on my Nook and Kindle Fire as a kid but never really understood how. I came to my friend’s studio to hang out a few times, and finally, they forced me to rap. From then on, I decided to get my own equipment and go harder.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My biggest influences growing up were definitely Juice WRLD, XXXTentacion, Young Thug, James Brown, and dubstep as a whole—another music category I grew to love. Juice WRLD inspired me because he genuinely connected with his fans; it was real—the stuff he spoke about. Same with XXXTentacion—he was raw energy and a rockstar. His personality motivated me for sure to just do what I want, be different, and embrace being weird. I lived that. Young Thug changed the game with his “mumble rap.” I found it crazy how he articulated his words and created a whole new wave of music throughout ATL.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. The biggest highlights of my career would be my songs reaching other countries. I have a fan in my phone right now who literally texts me every week to make sure I’m okay and reminds me that I need to drop music for people like him. He pushes me a lot, and I’ve never even met the guy in person, but my music moves him that much. That’s the biggest highlight—the love my fans give me.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In five years, I see myself rocking out on stage, reaching millions of streams, collaborating with major artists, and finally having my face known to millions of people around the world.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. My final message to my fans and supporters would be: I love y’all if no one else does. And no matter what—f*** everyone else. Live your life. Be a rockstar.
