Q. Good day, YungDmack! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?
A. Really, I was always around it when I was growing up before my dad got locked up. He was always making music, and he also helped me make my first couple of tracks when I was a little younger as well. Then he got locked up, and I took a little break for some years. Then I found love for it again when I was around 15, and I’ve just been working ever since.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. To be honest, I listen to a whole bunch of genres of music, so I don’t have an exact influence. My mom was always playing Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z back then, but as I grew a little older, I started listening to a lot of Polo G, Lil Durk, King Von, and rappers like that. So I guess you could say they were my influences when I first started out.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. This is a hard question, but I’d probably have to say my first show. It taught me a lot. I met a lot of people, and it helped me get out of my comfort zone. So I feel like that really helped me as an artist and pushed me even more—seeing people actually singing my lyrics.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. I see myself hopefully wealthy, healthy, and, most importantly, happy—in a big house with my family somewhere in the hills, counting millions.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. One message for everyone is: support your friends. No matter what their goal or dream is, as a friend, you should be there for them and support them every step of the way.
