Interview With yxngdrilla: A New Star Changing the Game

Q. Good day,
yxngdrilla! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. I got into music getting high and just freestyling with my cousin Chivo. For real, every time we smoked, he would play a beat, and I’d just spazz, so I decided to make a song, and it just went from there, for real.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My musical influences… I don’t have anybody I’m inspired by that was the reason for me to rap, ’cause I’m my own person, you feel me? My flow is mine—I don’t wanna be like anybody else; I wanna be myself with my music. So yeah, I have a lot of influences and inspirations, but none were the reason for me to start making music.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. Most of my biggest career highlights would be back in my hometown, for real. Everyone knew me, I had more motion, more performances at clubs—more everything compared to what I have now.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. Bigger than what I am now. I wanna have more of a following, features back-to-back, more shows, more opportunities to blow up worldwide.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters.

A. I stand out ’cause of my flow. I personally feel like a lot of rappers mumble—I rap fast, I rap slow, I have different flows. But when I rap fast, you can hear what I’m saying compared to most. I got bars—sh*t, I come up with these bars quick af. The time I make a song can range from 30 minutes to an hour. My bars are uniqu
e and more in-depth, if that makes sense.
