An Interview With Iambition: a Rising Star Continuing To Build a Reputation for Consistency and Craft

Q. Good day,
Iambition! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. My brothers were rappers and had success in rap. One goes by Guillotine Garvez and the other Sirvet. I was a kid at the time when the PS2 had the editing disc and you could record. I was young, but I used to do hooks for songs. Then, when I moved to Kentucky to finish high school, my brothers P.L.U.G and Official Just P were rapping. They came to the crib, we recorded, and that refueled the passion and made me want to chase my dreams.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My musical influences are Max B, Fabolous, The Lox, Juelz, Cam’ron, Pusha T, Jeezy, T.I., A$AP Rocky, Lil Durk, Chris Brown, Usher, SimxSantana, Chika, Ace Hood, Bad Bunny, and Anuel AA. These are my choices, but I’m inspired by so many artists. These stuck out the most because they made me the artist that I am. Some on my list I feel are slept on; others I feel need to continue putting out hits. Their styles—even the recent hits—make me want to write harder and pick better beats.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest career highlight was seeing fans repost and share my music on TikTok. It gives me a good feeling that finally, my hard work is paying off.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. Signed to a major label and being on every chart imaginable—especially in the reggaeton scene.

Q. What is one message you have for your fans and supporters?

A. I’m not stopping until I make my dream a reality. Even when I wanted to quit, I kept pushing. Keep going—life’s not hard if you don’t make it that way. You can make it through anything with prayer, meditation, and by being positive while pushing away all negativity.
