From the Hill to the Hype: An Interview With Kam NgB

Q. Good day,
Kam NgB! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. I got into music when I was 10–12 years old. Me and my homie Tank, aka Rob G, used to go to my uncle’s studio up the hill where we stayed in our hometown.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My music influences are NBA YoungBoy and Duke Deuce. I say NBA YoungBoy because he introduced me to the pain/hype side of the music, and that made me open up a different side of myself through my music. Duke Deuce introduced me to the hype side of hip hop and got me into the Memphis-type beats—and that’s part of what I’m big on also. Lol. Migos influenced my career too.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest career highlight so far is my song “Thick B***h,” out on all platforms. It brought me the biggest audience of both races, and it brought everyone together. Great twerk/hype song.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In five years, I see myself as one of the top rappers in the game, giving it more than what’s been given.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. One message I have for my fans and supporters is to always keep supporting me. Stay down, and the change will come—any minute now.
