Q. Good day, Majesty! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?
A. I grew up around music. My mom playing hip hop and R&B of the 90s and early 2000s. My dad playing soul and funk of the 60s and 70s. Music just came naturally. One day when I was 8 years old, I picked up my notebook and started writing rhymes, and the rest is history.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. I have so many I could write an essay, but I’ll keep it short. Miles Davis for his image and ear for music blending. Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield for their depth and social commentary. Erykah Badu for her lyrical spirituality. Nas for his lyricism and storytelling. 2Pac for his passion and poetic flow. Lil Wayne for his creative punchlines. Fabolous for his tone and punchlines. Jay-Z for his wisdom, honesty, and flow. Biggie for his bars and flow. And Kanye West for his fashion sense, choice of samples, and flow. Wu-Tang for their gritty sound. Three 6 Mafia and their production. Snoop and Dre’s West Coast bounce. I can go on and on.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. My biggest career highlight so far, I’d probably say, is connecting with Universal and Warner and writing for many mainstream artists.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In five years, I see myself multi-platinum and Grammy award-winning.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. My message to my fans and supporters is to be yourself no matter what anyone thinks.
