An Interview With JXICE9: A Journey of Pain, Purpose, and Rebirth

Q
. Good day,
JXICE9! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?

A. I would describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as self-aware alternative trap music.

Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?

A. A specific song that’s in my catalog that I feel defines who I am as an artist is titled ‘Expressive Soul’. The song feels like a declaration of rebirth — a mix of pain, passion, and purpose. It’s saying: yeah, I’ve been through heartbreak, paranoia, and struggle, but I’m evolving, staying true to myself, chasing my dreams, and showing others they can too.

Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A. If I had the chance to collaborate with any artist, living or dead, it would be JID, because his core message is spiritual awakening through struggle, self-expression without shame, and turning pain into power.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career so far is starting a film production company, ‘Off Tha Trail’. It’s been very time-demanding, and I had to sacrifice working a regular job, but overall it’s been eye-opening and door-opening as well. I’ve connected with and met so many different types of artists coming from all types of backgrounds. I’ve learned that it takes time and sacrifice to get where you want to be.

Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?

A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I would want the listeners to know: you can live the exact way you envision it if you just commit and sacrifice the things holding you back and no longer serving you.
