A Conversation With OffTheFanta: The Rising Artist Blending Humor, Heart, and Honest Storytelling

Q
. Good day, OffTheFanta!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?

A. I would describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as clever, funny, but also with a good mix of serious material. I feel my sound is pretty gritty and authentic to who I am as an artist.

Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?

A. A specific song in my catalog that I feel defines who I am as an artist is my track “Truly.” It perfectly embraces who I am as an artist. I say this because I come in with storytelling about my personal experiences with day-to-day life and also incorporate some of my religious beliefs to shed light on who OffTheFanta really is. I think it’s important to be genuine to yourself and focus on authenticity in this industry.

Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A. If I could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, I would have to collaborate with Mg Sleepy. Something about his music always draws me in. I can appreciate his raw sound and his experimental choice of beats. I feel he is one of those artists who just constantly pushes out good music, and I can’t see his growth stopping anytime soon. As far as the Midwest scene goes, he is definitely making lots of noise.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career so far was changing my sound completely. I used to make less serious music, but once I seriously stepped into the Aesthetic Rap scene, my following grew a ton. Experimenting with these new flows and even releasing music that felt too personal to drop were things that propelled me forward. I know that at one point in time I was unsure about the feedback I’d get from my new craft, but everything has worked out in my favor.

Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?

A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I’d want them to know that I appreciate the support. Honestly, the thing that really keeps me going is the love I get from fans, as it’s a strong motivator to keep pushing music out. I’d also tell them that all my craft is made out of pure love for the game, as I just enjoy using music as an outlet to speak my thoughts.
