Inside the World of Theone K5: An Interview With the Artist Who Lives His Music

Q. Good day, Theone K5!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?

A.would describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as authentic. I can make good music on any beat, but you’ll never hear me lying or pretending to be something I’m not on any of my songs. I bring the melodies and harmonies, and if you listen hard enough, it’s the best wordplay out since Lil Wayne.

Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?

A. A specific song in my catalog that I feel defines who I am as an artist is my song, “We the Ones.” I picked this song because it was the first track where I felt like I found my authentic sound. The way that song flowed out of me while recording was like a breath of fresh air. It made me realize I was made for this.

Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A. If I had to pick one artist to collaborate with, living or dead, it would probably be Juice WRLD. He really inspired me to start making music. Seeing how he didn’t change who he was for the sake of making music is what made me respect him as an artist and as a person.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

A. The biggest risk I’ve taken so far in my career was my first show. I drove from St. Louis to Pittsburgh in a pickup truck with my girl and my momma. I was nervous the whole 12-hour ride. But once it was all over, it made me realize that you can do anything you put your mind to if you believe in yourself. At the end of the day, either you’re going to be your biggest obstacle or your biggest advocate.

Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?

A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I’d want you all to know that your dreams aren’t too big to achieve. If you have a passion for something, strive to be the best at it. If you shoot for the moon and you fall short in the stars, did you really fail? Think about it. But most importantly, never go against your morals and beliefs. Do what’s best for you and yours in every situation. Be loyal to those who are loyal to you.
