A. I started off with the rap name "Wonder" because, to me, the word “wonder” represents creativity. When people say “I wonder,” it usually sparks a creative thought, scenario, or idea in their mind. Later on, I added King and Da Goat after receiving constant feedback and support from fans, but at its core, it all began with Wonder and what it symbolizes to me: creativity.
Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?
A. My journey as an artist has been, honestly, freakin’ tiring. It’s been about taking things one day, one hour, and one minute at a time. Still, I feel extremely blessed to have learned everything I’ve learned along the way. I thank God for the drive He instilled it in me because without it, I would be nothing.
Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?
A. What makes my music different is that I’m literally from Connecticut. My story is different, my substance is different, and the voice and hunger you hear in my delivery are unique to me. I believe everything about me is authentic, and it’s very hard to fake that level of authenticity for as long as I’ve been making music.
Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?
A. The moment I realized I wanted to pursue music seriously was when I understood that music was the only thing that truly healed me. From there, I wanted to create music and build worlds that could transform people’s perspectives on their own situations.
Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?
A. My music has always been about healing, and that will always remain the main mission. I’m now entering a new chapter centered on a different mindset: don’t ever dim your light or try too hard to be humble—especially when you know you’re the best. Take that and apply it to your life. Sometimes you have to step on toes when people see you coming and refuse to make room.
