A. The name Kobe’s Revenge represents a new chapter in my life. It’s the point where I stopped trying to please people, stopped trying to be the “hero,” and decided to be unapologetically myself—whether that inspires people or makes them uncomfortable. To me, the best revenge is success, and that’s exactly what the “revenge” in my name stands for. Every time someone sees me on stage, I want them to think, “This is Kobe’s success. This is his revenge.”
Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?
A. My journey as an artist has been built on long nights, relentless work, and constantly rebuilding my belief in myself. I’ve never let my circumstances determine where I’m going in life. Along the way, I’ve dealt with competition from peers who have tried to take my energy and ideas without giving credit, but those experiences have only made me more focused on staying true to who I am and continuing to evolve.
Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?
A. What separates my music is the passion and heart behind it, along with a voice that’s instantly recognizable. You know it’s me the moment I start rapping. While I’ve been inspired by artists like Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, and Future, I’m not trying to recreate what they’ve done. I’m taking those influences further, discovering my own identity, and building a sound that pays homage to what inspired me while still being completely original.
Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?
A. Music became serious for me when I was 14 and started experimenting with my dad’s studio equipment. My father is a two-time Grammy-winning producer, and he introduced me to the creative possibilities of making music. I fell in love with every sound I could create. Looking back, though, it really started when I was around seven years old. I used to daydream about standing in front of massive crowds with lights everywhere, performing behind a DJ booth while futuristic bass shook the entire place. I didn’t realize until I got older that I was imagining music festivals. I’d even make beats with my teeth while walking around because I couldn’t get the music out of my head. Honestly, I still catch myself doing that today.
Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?
A. At the core of my music is one message: be yourself. Enjoy your life. Stop being afraid to express yourself. Sometimes we genuinely need to rage, let everything out, and embrace that energy instead of suppressing it. There’s also a deeper layer to my music for those who are paying attention—esoteric ideas and coded messages for people with eyes to see and ears to hear. More than anything, I want to keep the sound and spirit of youth alive. The feeling we had when we were seventeen doesn’t have to disappear with age. Whether you’re in your twenties, thirties, forties, or fifties, that same fire can still exist.
