Q. Good day, Lil Lex!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you come up with your artist name, and what does it represent to you?

A. The name, Lil Lex, came from my real name, Alex. “Lex” was the part that stood out to me the most, and over time it became part of my identity as an artist. I wanted something simple, memorable, and connected to who I actually am.

Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?

A. I’ve been making music for around six years. Before I started rapping, I grew up playing instruments like guitar, piano, and accordion, and I also completed basic music school. Later on, I decided Rap was the direction I wanted to take seriously. Since then, I’ve been developing my sound, writing, recording, and learning more about production and music as a whole.

Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?

A. What makes my music different is that I really try not to copy what everyone else is doing. I want to build my own sound and leave my own impression. A lot of my music is based on truth, affirmations, good energy, and things I actually believe in. I also mix different languages and cultures in my music. I make Balkan, Slovenian, and English songs, and sometimes I combine Balkan and English or Slovenian and English in the same track. Slovenian is my native language, and I learned a lot of my English through school, YouTube, music, and the internet, so mixing languages has become a natural part of my style.

Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?

A. The moment I knew I wanted to take music seriously from the beginning. When I recorded my first music video and started seeing reactions from people, both love and hate, it made everything feel real to me. I’ve also performed live around six or seven times, and the feeling of being on stage was crazy. That gave me even more motivation to keep going. At the same time, the music scene in Maribor doesn’t really have a strong audience for the type of music I make, which is one of the reasons I want to reach people outside my city and eventually build an international audience. That was when I realized this was something I wanted to keep doing for the rest of my life.

Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?

A. The main takeaway is I want listeners to feel my energy. I want people to feel motivated, confident, and good when they hear my music. Some songs are made for parties and high-energy moments, while others are more emotional, chill, or personal. I like having different moods in my music because people listen to music for different reasons. Sometimes you want motivation, sometimes you want to relax, and sometimes you just want good vibes. I also make music because it has become a real emotional outlet for me. Ever since I started, it has felt almost addictive in a good way. If I go too long without making music, I genuinely start feeling down. Creating, recording, and expressing myself through music helps me clear my head and feel like myself again.

Lil Lex is constantly exploring new ways to develop his creativity and connect with different audiences. Overall, Lil Lex comes across as an artist focused on discovering his potential and creating a style that represents him.
