Q. Good day, OneGreatBastard!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you come up with your artist name, and what does it represent to you?

A. My name is an extension of everything that brought me to who I am. My mama, the family values she instilled in me, and the absence of certain family made me the bastard I am today. I represent anybody who came from less-than-favorable circumstances and said f*** going out sad." "Anybody who took their trauma and found triumph. Because I’m a bastard but a great one and just one of many great ones.

Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?

A. My journey as an artist has been rough as f***. I’ve had managers turn on me, friendships fade, and baddies bet against me. I’m fortunate because through it all I found my footing, and some real friends and fans have been made along the way. The way was just longer than I could’ve imagined, but the last two years I’ve really hit my stride.

Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?

A. The music I make—listeners are going to hear a level of grit, wit, and creativity they’ve never heard like this. I blend benevolence, hustle culture, street smarts, family values, and flexing in a way that’s hard to duplicate.

Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?

A. That moment came the first time I rapped in public; I freestyled at a rap competition and made it to the top 10 of that competition. It fueled my head that I could do that for a living.

Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?

A. The message I want to bring it that your trauma doesn’t define you. That you can come from the most f***ed-up circumstances and still find a way to prosper. Every bastard is a star.
