Q. Good day, pacyp! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you come up with your artist name, and what does it represent to you?
A. Well, my artist name is my real middle name. Pacy, also known as pacyp, which represents Pushing P.
Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?
A. My journey as an artist has been amazing so far. The fact that I have the opportunity to make music in the first place is enough to make me happy for life.
Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?
A. What makes me different from other artists in my genre is my cadence and tone. Nothing I put out is forced; my music is just smooth, raw rap. It’s just me being myself on the track.
Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?
A. I’ve known I wanted to pursue music since I was thirteen. I always wanted to make music. I was introduced to hip-hop at an early age and have just been heavily inspired since. I love rhythm so much, and my family used to have one of the Shakira albums on disc, and something about the bounce in her music made me want to rap. Also, hearing Eminem and 50 Cent was my inspiration early on.
Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?
A. The message I’m trying to bring within music is keeping the youth inspired to dream and chase. I’m a dream chaser at heart, so I feel like that’s what I should emphasize.
