Q. Good day, NFG Jo! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a musician?
A. During my middle school years, I discovered a passion for freestyle rapping while sitting at the lunch table. However, it wasn't until 2022 that I wrote and recorded my first song, and it wasn't until 2023 that I began to take music seriously. Initially, I was inspired to try music by watching my friends do it and believing that I could do it even better.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. I have been influenced by several artists in my music, including Biggie, Andre 3K, Wayne, Skilla Baby, Lil Yachty, G Herbo, and WulfDre. During my high school years, I particularly enjoyed listening to Yachty and Ugly God as they taught me how to have fun on a track while still creating great and timeless music. My father introduced me to Biggie, whose smooth and lyrical style still appeals to me today. When driving around, I often enjoy listening to G Herbo and Skilla Baby's music. WulfDre is not only versatile, but he is also like a brother to me, so I find his music particularly enjoyable. He inspires me to create music that I may not have attempted otherwise.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. My upcoming EP, titled "Mind of a Menace," is undoubtedly going to be my greatest achievement thus far in my music career. I am eagerly looking forward to its release. Additionally, I have poured my heart and soul into this project, exploring new sounds and experimenting with different elements to create something truly special. The EP represents a culmination of all the hard work and dedication I have put into my craft, and I am confident that my fans will appreciate it as much as I do. I can't wait to share it with the world and see how it resonates with people. It's a huge milestone for me, and I am excited to see where this project takes me in my musical journey.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. My aspiration is to become the next top artist from Charlotte following in the footsteps of Dababy, within the next five years. To achieve this goal, I am committed to perfecting my craft, experimenting with new sounds, and honing my unique artistic voice. I plan to continue collaborating with talented artists, producers, and songwriters to create music that resonates with my audience and showcases my versatility as an artist.
