Q. Good day, Reedlevyy! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a musician?
A. Since as far back as I can remember, I've had a deep passion for music. My dad, being a musician himself, taught my siblings and me how to play the guitar and piano when we were young. In 2015, I became interested in creating beats, mainly to recreate popular songs and put my own spin on them. The following year, a close friend and I decided to form a band. We would meet up every weekend, spending our time crafting songs together. During that period, my primary focus was on producing beats and honing my mixing skills. I took on the role of producer and singer, while my friend handled the rap verses. Our band went by the name Essebe, and to our delight, we accumulated a few thousand streams on Spotify.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to be influenced by various musicians who have had a significant impact on my musical journey. However, if I were to narrow it down to a few, I would have to mention Juice WRLD as one of my biggest inspirations. His music has resonated with me deeply and has fueled my passion for creating music even more. I find his nostalgic style to be incredibly influential, shaping the very essence of my artistic universe. Additionally, there's a beatmaker I truly admire named "Bnyx." His relentless work ethic and innovative approach to music production have made him a role model for me. His futuristic style serves as a constant reminder to push the boundaries of my own creativity. Lastly, I find great inspiration in the artist "Lancey Foux." His unique perspective and willingness to blend different genres and break traditional boundaries and rules have captivated me. Witnessing his fearlessness in exploring uncharted musical territories has encouraged me to do the same in my own artistic endeavors.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. Up until now, I've experienced some significant milestones in my musical journey. One of my proudest achievements has been the release of several projects with my band, "Essebe." Together, we've amassed thousands of streams, filmed music videos, visited studios, appeared on radios, and even had the opportunity to be interviewed. These experiences have been truly fulfilling and have allowed us to showcase our talents to a wider audience. Moreover, I take great pride in my individual music that can be found on Soundcloud under my artist's name, "Reedlevyy." It's a platform where I have shared my personal creations, and having my music available for others to listen to is a source of joy for me. Furthermore, I've had the privilege of collaborating with various artists in Belgium, taking on roles as a producer or recording engineer. Being able to contribute my skills and expertise to their projects has been a rewarding experience, and it has further enriched my musical journey.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In the upcoming five years, my aspiration is to establish a strong presence and recognition under my name, "Reedlevyy," not only as a beatmaker but also as a versatile artist and producer. I envision a future where I can sustain myself solely through my productions, recording expertise, and live performances. My ultimate goal is to be at the forefront of the new generation of producers who possess a diverse skill set, capable of excelling in various areas such as beat-making, engineering, singing, rapping, and captivating live audiences. I aspire to become a well-rounded artist, embodying a holistic approach to my craft. By wholeheartedly pursuing my passion, I aim to turn it into a fulfilling career, where every day I am doing what I love.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. The message I want to convey to anyone reading this is to never give up on pursuing your dreams. It's essential to dedicate yourself each day, putting in the hard work and continuously learning. Seize every opportunity that comes your way, and live your life aligned with your values. Remember to always strive for personal growth and improvement. Amidst the constant stimulation of the world around us, it's crucial to prioritize self-care, both mentally and physically.
