Q. Good day, Volk! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making beats?
A. I got inspired by a rapper from my entourage, "Loopz." Seeing him blow up in Quebec gave me the kick in the ass to pursue the same path. I used to think it wasn't possible to make it as a rapper or producer in this province, but he proved me wrong. Over the years, witnessing his progress, I came to realize that any dream is achievable if you truly believe in your craft. I began my rapping journey alongside my friend "Mileo," and we even hit the studio with talented individuals like "WhereYouAtBash" and "WhoSLara."
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. My all-time favorite musician is Comethazine, mainly because of his menacing lyrics that really captivate me. On the other hand, I'm a huge fan of Destroy Lonely for his exceptional beat selection, which always resonates with me. As for producers, FilipMakesBeats/Free Strikes holds a special place in my heart. I'm drawn to how he skillfully incorporates electronic elements into his beats, creating a unique and captivating sound that I find mesmerizingly melancholic.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. I'm proud to be part of the "Icebound" collective, where I collaborate with incredibly talented individuals like "RoyalAnsem," "KaineBasquiat," "M15," "ExVee," "Gaudz," and many other gifted artists. Being surrounded by such talent and creativity constantly motivates and inspires me to keep pushing forward in my own artistic endeavors. Together, we form a powerhouse of creativity and support, and I can't wait to see where this collective journey takes us in the future.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In five years, I have no doubt that Icebound, our collective in Montreal, will have reached unprecedented heights, becoming the biggest and most influential in the city. Each member of the group will have achieved remarkable success, and we'll be collaborating with some of the biggest artists worldwide. Additionally, I'm passionate about starting my own collective or brand with my close friend, where we'll motivate and inspire each other to create exceptional music.
