Q. Good day, SpideyFlacko! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a musician?
A. I go by Mario, also known as Spidey, Spida-man, or lil rudy. I've always had an ear for music and loved exploring different sounds and samples, but it wasn't until my senior year of high school that I actually started writing rhymes. There was this classmate of mine who was pretty popular for his rap skills, so I approached him about it. He handed me a blank CD with instrumentals of the hottest rap songs of the time, around 2010, and told me to write three 16-bar verses to any beat I liked. He thought I had talent, and since then, I've been making music on and off.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. My musical influences include Future, Nas, Andre 3000, Gucci Mane, and Biggie. Future inspires me with his relentless work ethic and ability to explore different musical styles. Nas impresses me with his lyricism and his messages of empowerment for the black community. Andre 3000 stands out for his unique style, unmatched bars, and humility. Gucci Mane's music was the soundtrack of our teenage years, and Biggie, along with Nas, remains one of the greatest lyricists in my eyes.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. I haven't had a major career highlight yet, but just dropping music and receiving positive feedback has been rewarding so far.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In five years, I envision myself still creating music, supporting my family, and striving for financial security.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. To my supporters, I'd say: keep pushing forward, keep striving for your goals, and watch out for those who might betray your trust because they're always scheming.
