Q. Good day, Dolo Tr3yz! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?
A. My brother really told me to start rapping for real. This nicca locked up right now—free my brother—but he told me one day to start taking this sh*t serious after we was freestyling in his momma’s car. I had just left New York, where I was heavily into sports and was really just being outside. When I came to Atlanta, I ain’t really have nothing better to do, so I just kinda fell in love with it. But I been making songs and writing since I was mad young. Ever since I can remember, I just never wanted to be an artist—until my brother sat me down and told me to take it serious.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. My musical influences are all over the place. Growing up, I used to really listen to A Boogie all the time, along with Polo G, G Herbo, Young Thug, Lil Durk, and YoungBoy. They really the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. My biggest career highlight so far is shooting a video for my latest song, In Other Wordz. Usually, I try to keep myself on melodic drill beats, but I decided to jump more on my personality side with my choice of beats. I don’t wanna be tied down to just one sub-genre of rap music.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. I know for a fact in five years, I’ma be exactly where I want to be—making money off my music. Enough to keep my family straight. Building my clothing brand and extending my reach globally. I already get a lot of producers hitting me up from overseas—Italy, Germany, London, Russia, etc. I know in five years, at my peak, I’ll be somewhere doing shows, going crazy. I wanna rebuild my hood too. I don’t want people growing up like how I did. If I ever get the chance, I’d build rec centers and fix the community up to the best of my ability. I know that’s a lot of money, so I know my pockets gotta be full. Millions every couple of months, assets, and money in stocks and business. That’s where I picture myself in five years—doing sh*t I only imagined for myself and my people. Putting all my n****s on too, of course.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. One message I got for my supporters and fans is that none of this sh*t is possible without y’all. I promise I thought about quitting and not doing music—just being a street nicca for real, enjoying the rest of my time on this earth. But I real-life enjoy doing this sh*t, and I love when y’all f*** with my music. I’m addicted to it for real. I’m at a point now where even if I wanted to give up, I can’t—this sh*t is built for me. And all I ask from my fans and supporters is just to keep being honest and real with me. I make pain music, but don’t let me drop no bullsh*t. I love y’all, man, and like I said, I wouldn’t be doing this sh*t if I ain’t get the type of love I do now. I feel like the biggest, and I’m nowhere near there—real sh*t.
