An Interview with CurtKaine: The Visionary Artist on Purpose, Passion, and the Path Ahead

Q. Good day, C
urtKaine! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. I started making music seriously around the age of 16 when I came across an app called BandLab. It all started from there. I had always been around music as a kid, though—106 & Park was a big inspiration for me growing up, along with my uncles, who were making music at the time.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. I have a lot of influences, but if I had to narrow it down, I’d say Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, André 3000, Future, Young Thug, old Carti, Project Pat, Mike Jones, and Lil Uzi. They taught me how to be different and how to stand out from everybody else.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest career highlight so far is probably making a song with Lil B the Based God, which I plan to release sometime soon.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In the next five years, I see myself performing at a sold-out show, launching a clothing line—or possibly both.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. One message I have for my fans is: keep getting richer every year—mentally and physically—and keep supporting. We’ve only scratched the surface.
