A One-on-One Conversation with JJ (Official): How Music Became His Voice Through Pain and Pressure

Q. Good day,
JJ (Official)! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. Music started as therapy for me. I’ve been carrying a lot on my back — working full-time construction, barely being home, raising four kids, and dealing with pressure from every direction. I needed a way to let it out. Rap gave me a voice when I felt unheard. Every song is a piece of my struggle and my growth.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. I look up to many artists like Polo G, Lil Eazzyy, Jimmy Wopo, Method Man, Eminem, Tupac, Juice WRLD, Nas, Mac Miller, B.I.G., XXXTentacion, and more. They all have something real to say — pain, pressure, and hunger. Polo G’s storytelling and energy hit home. Jimmy Wopo had that raw street feel. I respect anyone who stays true to themselves.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest career highlight so far has been releasing my single “KINGS PEN.” It showed the world I’m serious. That track wasn’t just music — it was my life in a verse. The response I got proved people are listening and connecting. That means more to me than any number or stat.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In 5 years, I see myself fully focused on music — no more clocking in, just building my legacy. I want to tour, build a brand, and lead a movement for people who come from the same struggle. I’ll be feeding my family off what I create, not what I’m forced to do. That’s the dream, and I’m chasing it every day.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. One message I have to my fans and supporters is: don’t quit. Even when life tries to break you, stand tall. I know what it’s like to feel like no one understands your situation — but I promise you, you’re not alone. My music is for people who’ve been through it and kept going. We’re not victims — we’re built different.
