From Beats to Bars: An Interview With Rising Artist Jooze J2

Q. Good day,
Jooze J2! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. I’ve always wanted to create music, whether it be guitar riffs, beats, or rap. I fell in love with catchy melodies and new hip hop around summer 2021 when my friends would play “iloveyouihateyou” by Playboi Carti, and so I started off making beats and got decent. I wanted to branch off and make something more, so I started picking up rap and trying my best to improve.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. My biggest influence is definitely Yeat. His come-up was something to study for sure. I also really enjoy listening to Osamason, 2slimey, Dom Corleo, Nine Vicious, and Ken Carson. All of these artists are pleasing to listen to and seem to flow on songs effortlessly, so I am very inspired to try to get my flow to a point where I can pick up a beat and be done rapping on it in a couple of hours—no problem.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest career highlight so far has been making connections, and having a solid baseline for me to grow has been amazing. Now it’s all up to me to put my head down and grind, because I know I’ve got solid people around me to help me grow while I focus on my music. Finishing a song that I enjoy enough to play on repeat is another big one. That’s the goal for me—to like my music enough to listen to it myself and genuinely enjoy it.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In the next five years, I see myself finally being able to see the hard work pay off and begin to make enough to quit my job and go full time into the music industry, and make an even bigger impact. I hope in five years as well, I get to bring up some of the people that are close to me and let their own skills be seen by more of the world and get the love they deserve.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. My message to my fans and supporters is that I love every single one of y’all. It may not be a lot right now, but I know we are on our way up, and I can’t wait to do some shows and pop out for y’all.
