Using Music to Uplift and Connect: An Interview with Rising Artist TrenxhKiid

Q. Good day,
TrenxhKiid! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. I got into music by gaining knowledge of the industry, networking, and building good relationships with different people.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. Some of my influences within music are DMX, NAS, and Lil Durk. DMX influenced my rap career by showing me the power of raw emotion and truth in music. He was never afraid to show pain, struggle, or faith, and that made his music real and relatable. His ability to go from aggressive street anthems to deep, spiritual prayers inspired me to be more honest in my own lyrics. He proved that vulnerability is strength, and that you can touch people’s souls just by telling your story with no filter. His energy, passion, and voice made you feel every word—and that’s the kind of impact I want my music to have.

Nas is a huge influence on my rap career because of his lyrical depth, storytelling, and how he uses his voice to paint vivid pictures of real life. When I first heard Illmatic, it showed me that rap could be more than just bars—it could be poetry, history, and social commentary all in one. He taught me that it’s possible to speak truth, represent where you’re from, and still be timeless. Nas never compromised his message for trends, and that inspires me to stay true to my own voice and use my music to say something meaningful.

Lil Durk is an influence on my rap career because of the way he blends raw emotion with street reality. He doesn’t just rap about pain—he makes you feel it. His authenticity, evolution as an artist, and ability to stay relevant over time are things I really respect.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest highlight in my music career so far is when I opened up for Hunxho in Durham, NC at Club 9one9.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In five years, I see myself as an established and respected artist with a solid catalog of music that connects deeply with my audience. I want to be performing at major festivals and venues, collaborating with other artists I admire, and using my platform to inspire and uplift others. By then, I hope to have at least two full-length albums released, a loyal fanbase, and a creative team around me that helps push my artistry forward. I also aim to explore other aspects of the industry, like producing, mentoring up-and-coming talent, or scoring for film and TV. Ultimately, I want to be known not just for my sound, but for my authenticity and impact.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. My message to my fans and supporters is simple: thank you for believing in me, even when I was still finding my voice. Every stream, share, comment, or word of encouragement means more than you know. I’m not just doing this for me—I’m doing this with you. Your support reminds me why I started, and why I’ll never stop. Keep chasing your dreams just like I’m chasing mine. We’re growing together, and the best is yet to come.
