Fueling the Underground with Real Talent: An Interview With SosaVsTheMet

Q. Good day, SosaVsTheMet! We
appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how did you get into making music?

A. I really got into making music because I always had a way with English (Studies). I’m great at manipulating words, rhyming, and wordplay.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. I listen to all genres, to be honest, so I grasp certain concepts from everywhere, which makes me so versatile. Notable people I like at the moment are Baby Drill, Lil Tony, FattMack, Baby Kia, and Raq Baby. Most of those guys are from ATL or represent it. Their wave right now is just monumental in the underground and potentially mainstream.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. My biggest career highlights at the moment are a few local gigs — and the gig itself isn’t the highlight, it’s the reactions, it’s the feedback that I’ve got. Once I’m done, performing, the people are actually loving my music — that’s the best feeling to have.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. In the next five years, I’d just like it to be realistic. I want to at least have my city on lock to where I’m a local name. But once I’m big enough, leave it and go on tour — though I don’t want to stop shedding light on my city, because there is a grotesque amount of talent out here that’s going unnoticed.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. One message I have to both my fans and supporters is that, if y’all believe in me and support me, I promise a lot more people from this same city are gonna make it.
