Q. Good day, Flacko Santana! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how did you get into making music?
A. I sleep and breathe music. It’s my form of expression—I feel like it’s the best way for me to express myself and get my emotions out. As a youngin, we really ain’t have it like that. My pops got locked up, did a bid, and sent me a radio he made from the prison walls. The Radio was all I heard; music was all I heard. Melodies from music always ran thoroughly. It was really our expression of pain. No one really listens when we truly speak our pain, so we put it in a melody.
Q. Who are your musical influences and why?
A. I grew up on different sounds. I’ve always been a melodic type of artist—always been a fan of old music, but with new music too. I grew up listening to a lot of Justin Timberlake and New Edition. Even though New Edition wasn’t from my era, my family had an old-soul when it came to music. During my teenage years, I grew up listening to Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, PnB Rock, Fetty Wap, and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, which is one of the main reasons I took music more seriously,
Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
A. My biggest career highlight, I can say, is my entire music journey, to be honest—from opening for Phresher in 2017, to performing my grand opening at SOB’s, to meeting different types of artists, and getting introduced to Madonna by one of my good brothers. It’s just been a dope experience.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. In 5 years, I see myself as a millionaire or at least one step closer to becoming the best version of me. I’ve always said, the older I get, the better I look, and the wiser I become. The best version of me comes out even more.
Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?
A. One message I have for my fans and supporters is that I want to thank all my waves who’ve been supporting me from day one. Keep doing what makes you happy, keep that tsunami pushing and keep them talking. They’re always going to say you’re doing wrong when you’re doing right, and they’re always going to say you could be doing something different when it’s not in their favor. And always remember to Be You, And only You.
