Finding Comfort in Vulnerability: An Interview With Rising Musician xLEEx

Q. Good day, xLEEx!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?

A. I would describe my sound to someone who has never my music before as purplish-blue. If you know, you know.

Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?

A. I have to say all my music defines who I am as an artist. Making music has been my comfort zone for a long time; it’s my space where I can be vulnerable and really be myself.

Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A. If I could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, it would definitely be Sade. I grew up with my mom playing her all the time, playing her classics. She is high on the bucket list and she is a huge influence on my production style.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career so far is actually putting money behind what I’m doing. I definitely learned that it takes money to make money, and nothing worth doing comes easy or free.

Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?

A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I would want them to know that I appreciate them listening, and I hope they enjoy the journey through my thoughts and perspective.
