Q. Good day, iranoldaurora! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?
A. I would describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as a mix of underground hip-hop, neo-soul, experimental rap, and raw emotion. It’s melodic but still gritty, personal but universal. I pull from jazz, soul, alternative, and even electronic textures — whatever helps me say what I need to say.
Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?
A. A specific song I feel defines who I am as an artist is one I made a couple of years back called “Take,” and I think it’s surprisingly reflective of my new music in terms of composition. I don’t know how, but I was in a similar mind space then as the one I’m in currently.
Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
A. If I had the opportunity to collaborate with any artist, alive or dead, it would be Miles Davis, for sure. He changed the direction of music more than once in his lifetime and never stopped evolving. I respect artists who reinvent themselves without losing their soul, and I feel like working with Miles would push me to break whatever boundaries I still have left. It’s less about genre and more about how he approached sound — fearless, intentional, and always searching for something new.
Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?
A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my music career so far was choosing to chase my own sound instead of trying to fit into what my city or the algorithm wanted. It slowed things down at first, but I learned that authenticity builds longevity. When you stop molding yourself to fit a lane, you end up creating your own.
Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?
A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I’d want them to know that my music is honest. I’m not chasing trends — I’m documenting where I’m at, what I’m feeling, and who I’m becoming. If you press play, you’re stepping into my world, not a replica of anyone else’s.
