An Interview With Slicktor Victor: Genre-Fluid Sound, Real-Life Stories, and Global Vibes

Q. Good day, Slicktor Victor!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?

A. I’d describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as genre-fluid and emotion-driven. It’s rooted in hip-hop and R&B, but I pull from Caribbean energy, pop, Afro-beats, and dancehall depending on the story I’m telling. Whether it’s melodic, introspective, or high-energy, my music is always about real experiences: growth, love, pressure, wins, and lessons. It’s music you can vibe to but also feel, because it comes from lived moments, not trends.

Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?

A. Yes, a specific song in my catalog that I feel defines who I am as an artist is called “Kings and Queens.” Not only is it my biggest record, but it’s also the song that best captures who I am as an artist. I had the most fun writing it because it wasn’t forced—it was a story unfolding in real time. Everything felt natural, from the energy to the message, and that freedom translated into the music. It represents my balance of confidence, vulnerability, and joy, and it’s one of those records where you can hear me fully in my element.

Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A. If I could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, I would choose Geko. (rapper) I’ve been a fan of UK music for years, and he’s been my favorite UK artist since 2017. The way he blends Caribbean, Afrobeat, and Arabic influences with undeniable UK swagger is next level. That global fusion aligns perfectly with how I approach my own sound, and a collaboration would feel organic, not forced.  If we’re talking legendary, it has to be Whitney Houston. There’s nothing like a woman who can sing on any track and turn it into a hit. Her voice carried emotion, power, and timelessness all at once, and collaborating with someone like that would elevate any record beyond genre or era.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career so far has actually been stepping away from my career for a year to be there for my family. When my dad got sick, I put everything on hold in 2025 to support my mom and handle real life. At the time, it felt risky because momentum matters in this industry, and I didn’t have much creative drive with everything going on.  What I learned is that life will always come before music, and when you honor that, the art comes back stronger. That pause gave me perspective, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose. I’m back now, clearer and more focused than ever.

Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?

A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I would want them to know they’re stepping into a world, not just a playlist. Slicktor Victor is about elevation, sound, lifestyle, and perspective. My music is shaped by travel, culture, and real experiences across different places and people. Every record carries movement, influence, and intention, so when you listen, you’re not just hearing songs—you’re experiencing where I’ve been, what I’ve seen, and how it all connects. It’s global, refined, and lived-in. Press play and travel with me.
