From Inspiration to Innovation: An Interview With Apollo Winner Keetheartist

Q. Good day, Keetheartist!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you get into making music?

A. I got into music because I grew up around it. My parents were always playing different kinds of music in the house. My mom listened to a lot of R&B and ’90s rap, while my dad played a mix of current music from that time along with ’90s rap. Music was always a part of my life. I’ve also always been a performer. I’ve been dancing since I was a kid, so being on stage and entertaining people came naturally to me. Around 14 or 15, I realized I had a voice and could actually rap. I used to rap on the block with my friends, and that’s when I started taking it seriously. From that point on, I knew I had what it takes to pursue music and make something out of it.

Q. Who would you say are your musical influences and why?

A. I have a few different musical influences for different reasons. Artists like Chris Brown and Michael Jackson are my two favorite artists of all time. I look up to them because of their incredible work ethic, stage presence, and dance abilities. In my opinion, they are two of the greatest artists ever. They changed the game and influenced generations of artists, which is something I greatly admire. I also have artists who have influenced the way I make music and develop my sound. I consider myself a melodic rapper, and I use a lot of vocals and melodies in my music. Because of that, artists like PnB Rock and A Boogie wit da Hoodie have had a major impact on me. I took a lot of inspiration from their ability to blend rap with melody and create music that connects emotionally with people. They are both great artists from my generation, and their influence on modern music is undeniable.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. One of the biggest highlights of my career so far has been performing at the legendary Apollo Theater and winning first place. That was a huge moment for me because it’s a stage that so many great artists have performed on. I’ve also had the opportunity to perform in different cities and states, including Philadelphia, Atlanta, and New York City, which helped me grow as an artist and connect with different audiences. Another accomplishment I’m proud of is reaching over 100,000 views on my YouTube channel. Seeing people from different places support my music motivates me to keep pushing and taking my career to the next level.

Q. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

A. In the five years, I see myself as a mainstream artist working with some of the biggest and most talented artists in the industry. I see myself performing on the biggest stages around the world, selling out shows, and inspiring people through my music. More than the fame, I want to leave a real impact on the culture by creating a new blueprint and bringing back authentic music, genuine storytelling, and good vibes. My goal is to help change the game, stay true to who I am, and make music that people can connect with for generations.

Q. What is one message you have for your fans and supporters?

A. One message I have for my fans and supporters is to always believe in yourself and never let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do. No matter where you come from or what obstacles are in your way, keep pushing and stay focused on your goals. Always strive to be a better version of yourself every day and give 100 percent effort to whatever you’re passionate about. If you stay dedicated, work hard, and believe in your vision, anything is possible. I appreciate everyone who supports me on this journey, and I hope my story inspires others to chase their dreams too.
