From Nickname to Identity: An Interview With Rising Star Big Virg on Building His Musical Brand

Q. Good day, Big Virg!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you come up with your artist name, and what does it represent to you?

A. The name Big Virg came from a friend who started calling me that, and it ended up becoming much more than just a nickname. The name gave me a greater sense of confidence and helped me embrace who I am as both a person and an artist. Over time, Big Virg became a representation of self-belief, growth, and stepping into my own identity. Every time I hear the name, it reminds me to carry myself with confidence and continue pushing toward my goals.

Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?

A. My journey as an artist has been a great experience filled with growth and learning. I started by teaching myself how to record my own music, and over time I developed my skills to the point where I became an engineer. That side of the industry taught me a lot about music and sound, and now I’ve built a reputation as someone that artists enjoy working with in the studio. Looking back, it’s rewarding to see how far I’ve come from learning the basics to becoming someone others trust to help bring their music to life.

Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?

A. What makes my music different is my unique style and the energy I bring to every record. From the way I record to the quality of the final product, I focus on creating music that feels authentic and genuine. My sound blends country rap tunes with melodic elements, allowing me to express both pain and motivation in a way that listeners can connect with. You can hear the emotion in my voice, and that’s what helps separate my music from others in the genre.

Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?

A. Honestly, I’ve always wanted to pursue music seriously. Music has always been a passion of mine, but spending the past few years focused on engineering sometimes took my attention away from my own artistry. As I started recording fewer artists and spending more time reconnecting with my own creativity, I found that passion again. Regaining that energy and motivation reminded me why I fell in love with music in the first place, and it helped me rediscover myself as an artist.

Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?

A. The message that I want each listener to take away from my music is to never give up, no matter what life throws at you. Everyone goes through challenges, setbacks, and moments where they feel like they’re losing their drive, passion, or even themselves. I want my music to serve as a reminder to keep pushing forward through those difficult times. The pain, motivation, and real-life experiences in my songs are meant to inspire people and let them know they aren’t alone. No matter what happens, the music will always be there.
