Q. Good day, LYON! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you come up with your artist name, and what does it represent to you?
A. I came up with my artist name because my zodiac sign is Leo and I’m from NYC, which people often call a jungle. That’s why I chose LYON—spelled L-Y-O-N—instead of the traditional “lion.” To me, Lyon represents a strong, rebellious, courageous person who lives by his own rules.
Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?
A. My journey as an artist has had its ups and downs. Along the way, there have been moments where I felt like giving up, but despite those challenges, I always kept going because I believe in myself too much to quit. As I continue to grow as an artist, that belief in myself keeps me motivated and focused on moving forward.
Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre
A. What makes my music different is that I’m not a typical artist. Instead of following what everyone else is doing, I always try to capture real moments and turn them into songs. My goal is to create music that feels genuine and relatable, with the intention of making music that all ages can vibe to.
Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?
A. I realized I wanted to pursue music seriously when I was 21, after I wrote and recorded my first song. Although I had always wanted to be an entertainer as a kid, creating my first song was the moment that made everything feel real. From that point on, I knew music was something I wanted to dedicate myself to and take seriously.
Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?
A. The energy I’m trying to bring through my music is for the fellas. I feel like men don’t have enough songs where they can pop their sh*t in a fun, turn-up way. With my music, I want to create that kind of vibe and give listeners something they can feel confident, energized, and excited to play.
