Q. Good day, Lul KJ! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how did you come up with your artist name, and what does it represent to you?
A. I chose the name Lul KJ because my first name was difficult for people to pronounce, so I shortened it to make it easier for people to understand.
Q. What has your journey as an artist been like up to this point?
A. My journey as a music artist started off rough at first. I always wrote lyrics in high school but didn’t get in the studio until college because I was nervous about what people would say in high school. Music made me get my words out better to people. It’s like therapy to me. I say whatever is on my mind or how I’m feeling.
Q. What makes your music different from what listeners might hear from other artists in your genre?
A. My music is different in a lot of ways. I like to compose catchy music that will always stay in your head and will also have you singing along to it.
Q. What was the moment that made you realize you wanted to pursue music seriously?
A. The moment I realized I wanted to pursue music seriously was during college in my dorm, when I was staying up late nights trying to finish a single called “Waiting On Me.”
Q. What message or energy are you trying to bring to listeners through your music?
A. The message I am trying to bring to my listeners that there will be times people are going to hate on you because you’re doing something they wish they could do. You just have to keep going and be consistent. Nobody wants to see you win. I remember everything people said to me on my journey coming up with music. It hurt because what if I don’t make it? I chose to leave that thought out of my head and keep going because the only person stopping you from making it and getting rich is you. So I chose that I want to win.
