Interview With Upcoming Musician Groovy Mon$ta: Sharing Career Insights and Future Aspirations

Q. Good day,

Groovy Mon$ta! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is What made you want to become a musician?

A.  I started by listening to old-school hip hop and R&B with my mom on YouTube for hours as a kid. I’d freestyle with my friends and at school, and I used to kill it in the cyphers. After school, I’d record my tracks in the closet.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. 2Pac and Lil Wayne are my goats—my Michael Jordan. I grew up listening to them and their message and lyrical ability are unmatched. Then there’s the whole Black Hippy crew, especially Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. Travis Scott also changed the way I listen to and understand music. For newer influences, I listen a lot to D Savage, Skooly, Brygreatah, Young Thug, Gunna, UnoTheActivist, Thouxanbanfauni, Loe Shimmy, and 2Hefner.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. It’s tough to pinpoint just one, but about 4 or 5 years ago, I attended the BET Experience and went to a pool party hosted by Angela Yee and The Breakfast Club. It was an incredible experience all around.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. I hope to be a successful entrepreneur, producer, ghostwriter, actor, manager, and fashion designer. I want to pursue many different paths.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters?

A. Thank you for your loyalty and sticking with me through the journey. It’s been a long road, but don’t give up on your dreams because all your hard work might just be one step away from success. Keep your head up, and thanks again for all the love.
