Interview With Big Bey: The Artist Taking Over Streaming Platforms

Q. Good day, Big Bey!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is How did you get into making music?

A. It really started with my grandfather, the late great Phil Flowers, a big entertainer in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Watching him perform and seeing his studio set up at his house when my mom would take me and my brothers to visit, I knew I wanted to make music. I was always around someone who made music.

Q. Who are your musical influences and why?

A. I would first say my grandfather, of course. Second would be Master P, and the No Limit and Cash Money era.

Q. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

A. I have so many—from watching my favorite artists on TV to being the opening act for Jimmy Jones, Gillie Da Kid, Philly Freeway, Pastor Troy, just to name a few. But walking into Sony was a major one.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A. Owning my own independent label with successful artists.

Q. What Is One Message You Have for Your Fans and Supporters.

A. No matter what, it’s okay to be odd. One is an odd number, so be that.
