An Interview With J-Ness: The New School Artist with Real Hip Hop Hunger

Q. Good day, J-Ness
!
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?

A. I would describe my sound as different, but I believe what captures the ears most is my distinctive voice and delivery. My sound is new school but still has that nostalgic vibe to it.

Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?

A.
A specific song in my catalog that I feel defines who I am as an artist is called “Blessed with the Gift.” I poured a lot of creativity into that record, and I feel like lyrically I showcased my true hunger for the art form of hip hop.

Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

A. If I could collaborate with any artist, I would love to collaborate with Kevin Gates. He’s got a dope, unique style, and I’ve been a fan of his for a while now.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

A.
The biggest risk in my career I’ve taken so far is making bad investments. Unfortunately, I have been scammed a few times, but since then I’ve learned from it, and I know how to conduct business better and not just jump at everything that comes my way without doing my research on it first.
