Q. Good day, Tae Santana! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?
A. I would describe my music to someone who has never heard it before as something that will move you mentally.
Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?
A. The song that I feel defines who I am as an artist is my song called “Die Alone.” It’s really just raw and expressive, and I think that captures who I am pretty well.
Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
A. An artist I would want to work with is Kendrick Lamar. He’s a major influence on me, and I feel we would make an instant classic if that were to ever happen.
Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?
A. I haven’t taken what I would say is a risk in my career. I feel like a risk is something you may regret if it doesn’t work out. I wouldn’t regret it if rap doesn’t work out for me—I would take it on the chin and keep moving. If it’s meant to happen, it will happen. It’s in God’s hands.
Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?
A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before playing my music, I would want you to know that it’s worth a listen, and that’s all.
