Q. Good day, Domingo Black! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?
A. I would describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as Depressingly Blissful. I try to make my songs enjoyable to the ear while keeping a sad undertone with the lyrics.
Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist? Why that one?
A. A specific song in my catalog that I feel defines who I am as an artist is my song “Well Done.” It is a song that, while fun, also explains how I’m still here and I still continue to move on despite my hardships.
Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
A. If I could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, my decision would be really hard, but probably Tyler, The Creator. His music definitely set me on a path to finding my style, so it would be intriguing to see how our styles would sound together.
Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?
A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career so far was performing at the “2SA2DIE: Live From Paradise” show that I held. It was my first time hosting an event like that and having other artists I like perform. Getting to talk to some of the people after the show and people who randomly stopped by, and seeing how my words inspired them, made me realize that no matter where my career takes me, I can always take pride in knowing I made a change in someone’s life with my music.
Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?
A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I would want them to know: Everything changes when you can accept the SAD. Take the bad with the good, and you can get through anything.
