Q. Good day, Brendan1k! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. The first thing we want to know is, how would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before?
A. I would describe my sound to someone who’s never heard my music before as a sound that blends the reminiscent and melancholy feelings we all feel as humans with the sense of hope and motivation that everything is going to be okay, no matter what we believe in.
Q. Is there a specific song in your catalog that you feel defines who you are as an artist?
A. When it comes to a specific song in my catalog, which I feel defines who I am as an artist, I would choose between my tracks “Settle for Less” or “It’s Brendan,” which both show where I came from and what I’m up against while battling the lack of standards I feel we have for ourselves as people across the board.
Q. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
A. If I were given the opportunity to collaborate with any artist, living or dead, it would’ve 100% been XXXTentacion. He was a major influence in the game as a whole and was gone too soon. I think our styles blend well for interesting yet beautiful music.
Q. What has been the biggest risk you've taken in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?
A. The biggest risk I’ve taken in my career thus far has been quitting my first 9–5 right out of high school to chase my music and culinary arts. It has had a big impact on me even to this day. I learned not to take sh*t from anybody and to believe in myself from a young age.
Q. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to your music, what would you want them to know?
A. If this interview was the last thing someone read before listening to my music, I would want them to know that everybody has a passion. Everybody has an art. You are loved even if you don’t know it. So go live life and be the light you’re meant to be.
